ADVANCED TACTICAL MODULES

US Coaches Club has identified various phases of the game in both attacking and defending, in which coaches must thoroughly understand in order to be efficient at teaching and reading the game. All modules are offered in any system of play.

All modules are available in 7 v 7, 9 v 9 or 11 v 11 systems

 

Defending

  • Phase 1 – Functional traning
    • Defending from the front – Making play predictable, when to press and when to drop
  • Phase 2 – Functional Training
    • Defending in the Middle third – Centrally and in wide areas as well as recovery runs
  • Phase 3 – Functional Training
    • Defending in the back third – Centrally and in wide areas
  • Phase 4 – Phase of play training
    • Forwards and Midfielders defending zonally
  • Phase 5 – Phase of play training
    • Midfielders and defenders defending zonally
  • Zonal Defending
    • Shifting as a team to prevent penetrating passes
  • Zonal Defending
    • Small group defending – Teaching roles of 1st, 2nd and 3rd defender
  • Team Zonal Defending
    • 7 v 7
    • 9 v 9
    • 11 v 11
  • Zonal Defending
    • 3 back system and a 4 back system.
    • Utilizing the #6, #7 and #11
  • Defending as a team
    • Centrally and in wide areas
  • The difference between man marking and zonal defending
  • NEW DEFENDING METHODOLOGY
    • Training players to play a mix of man and zone which will increase your teams possession percentage
    • This module will teach your players to ask themselves two important questions:
      • Are you just close enough to the 2nd attacker
      • Are you just far enough away from the 2nd attacker

Attacking

  • Phase 1 (Defensive 3rd) – Functional training
    • Building the ball out of the back
  • Phase 2 – Transitioning from Phase 1 (Back third) to Phase 3 (Midfield third)Phase of play training
  • Phase 3 (Middle third) – Functional training
    • Various ways to penetrate, maintain possession and create overloads in the midfield
    • Utilizing your #6, #8 and wide players
  • Phase 4 – Transitioning from Phase 3 (Middle 3rd) to Phase 5 (attacking 3rd) – Phase of play training
    • Introducing your #10, #7 and #11 in their attacking responsibilities
  • Phase 5 – Playing in attacking third (Phase 5) – Functional training
    • Linking up with #9, #7 and #11
  • Mids and forwards combining – Phase of play training
    • Available in all systems of play
  • Direct versus Indirect – Various cues players must understand
